The Hunts Shopmobility scheme was established in 2006. It is a self-funding registered charity located in Princes Street Car Park, Malthouse Close, Huntingdon and is the only one of its kind in Huntingdonshire offering a service which allows anyone of any age to use our scheme. It is not only for elderly individuals or for people with chronic disabilities, it provides support for those restricted by temporary illness or injury. Maybe you have broken your leg or have strength problems after an operation? Do you have a child with disabilities who needs pushing in a wheelchair? Or simply you find walking longer distances difficult? Whatever your need, we are ready to help you access your local shops and facilities with appropriate mobility equipment. We are 100% committed to helping and allowing freedom without restrictions – ensuring improved well-being and reduced isolation across the UK. Hunts Shopmobility is more than a hire service it is also an important lifeline for those who use us. Without it many users would become isolated leading to greater implications on their health and wellbeing. It is a welcoming place to visit; we are a friend and an ear to those in need.

The scheme has a range of mobility scooters including some that can be hired overnight for an extra charge and a selection of wheelchairs available for children and adults. This allows those using the scheme to access the pedestrianised town centre of Huntingdon and Huntingdon Riverside and all it has to offer. You are also able to hire our equipment for use in other parts of the UK.

You can hire our equipment out on a daily basis for a one off price or join as a monthly member, for unlimited use for that month (subject to availability). Click here for more information on our charges and membership. Prices are subject to change so please check at time of enquiry.  Please bring two forms of ID with you when registering for our scheme whether as a casual user or a member.

Full guidance on how to use the equipment will be given by a member of our team. Some of the team have a disability and regularly use the service so are able to advise on navigating around the town centre including accessibility to amenities, businesses and shops.

The Princes Street car park has four blue badge spaces designated for Hunts Shopmobility customers and there are also regular parking spaces nearby. Alternatively if you come into Huntingdon by Taxi or on the F.A.C.T. bus then you can be dropped off in the car park directly outside our building.

We also sell a range of other mobility equipment. As a self-funding charity proceeds from their sale and the hire of our equipment goes towards keeping this valuable service open. However we are always looking for financial support in other ways so if you would like to help with a fundraising event or make a regular donation please contact 01480 432793 or email [email protected] for details on how you can go about this. Thank you.
